5TH AVENUE
This classic eight-room pre-war apartment on Fifth Avenue has gracefully evolved through a series of thoughtful renovations, adapting to the changing needs of a growing family as adult children moved in and out over time.
Originally a nursery adjacent to the primary bedroom, one space was reimagined as a sophisticated library, complete with custom millwork and a striking vintage light fixture—transforming it into a warm and intimate retreat within the home.
Several years later, the kitchen and butler’s pantry were fully renovated to enhance both flow and functionality. MBD opened the layout and introduced innovative storage solutions within custom cabinetry, while the butler’s pantry discreetly conceals a washer and dryer. Appliance garage-style doors hide countertop essentials, preserving a clean and elegant aesthetic.
Over time, the dining room, living room, and foyer were thoughtfully refreshed with richly layered wallpapers, new area rugs, vintage lighting, and custom-designed Kagan sofas—each addition reinforcing the apartment’s timeless character while introducing renewed vibrancy.
In the primary suite, an expansive custom-built wardrobe system provides generous additional storage, including dedicated pull-out drawers for his-and-hers laundry. The result is a seamless blend of practicality and refined design—honoring the home’s architectural heritage while supporting modern living.
