RIVERSIDE BLVD
This stunning penthouse, designed for long-time clients, required thoughtful intervention to bring warmth and personality to a new-construction high-rise. The full-floor apartment offered a blank canvas filled with potential.
By making strategic adjustments to the original layout, such as transforming the master bedroom into a family room and reimagining the kitchen to create a grand great room, the residence took on a more inviting, livable feel. A custom-built banquette integrated into the kitchen island provides seating with sweeping river views, enhancing both function and experience.
The clients envisioned the expansive living room as a space that would “feel like you were in a cloud.” In response, MBD designed the room in serene shades of blue and white. A monumental Kagan sofa, custom-designed in collaboration with Kagan Studios and assembled on site, anchors the space.
The library presented another opportunity for bespoke millwork. MBD designed custom bookcases featuring a concealed pop-out desk drawer, offering workspace when needed without compromising the room’s elegance. In the primary suite, an original bar was replaced with an additional office space to better suit the clients’ lifestyle.
Many rooms were thoughtfully designed around the clients’ extensive art collection, curated in collaboration with MBD and an art consultant. Throughout the home, numerous custom furnishings were created specifically for the project, including a vibrant yellow media console in the family room, a dramatic purple tufted bench, a floating lacquer shelf in the foyer, and a parchment-wrapped credenza in the living room.
To complete the residence, MBD also redesigned the elevator landing, ensuring a cohesive and elevated experience from arrival to interior.
